Our vision...

Generation Hull's ‘Fight for Our Creative Futures’ is a landmark programme designed to transform opportunities for children and young people across Hull. Its mission is simple: to ensure every young person can shape their own creative future.

The programme opens up clear career pathways. Young people will benefit from: mentoring; work experience; 60 creative placements; and 10 apprenticeships in Hull’s growing creative industries. Backed by Arts Council England, Hull City Council, and local businesses through the Esteem partnership, the initiative has already welcomed its first four apprentices who are now working with cultural organisations across the city.

In addition, through Arts Councils in 18 schools and youth organisations, young people are given real budgets and the power to decide which artists and organisations they want to work with. Together, they create projects in music, theatre, festivals, digital art, installations and more—developing skills, confidence and new ways to express themselves.

To launch our apprenticeship programme, Generation Hull and Esteem are holding an inspirational event on Wednesday 8 October that will bring together employers, educators, cultural organisations, policymakers and partners to demonstrate the collaborative spirit of which our City is so proud and how ‘Fight For Our Creative Futures’ is having a positive impact already.
