Generation Hull is a Hull-based programme putting children and young people in charge of the city's creative future. Backed by Thrive Co-Operative Learning Trust and 72 partners, we're giving young people impactful cultural experiences through our Young People Steering Group, Arts Councils in schools, Apprenticeships and Work Experience. Hull's next generation of creative talent deserves to be seen, heard and valued.

Meet the team

Trish Dalby

A proud Hull resident, Trish retired as Deputy Chief Executive of Hull City Council in 2019 after a distinguished public service career. Since then, she has remained deeply committed to the city through voluntary leadership roles, including Chair of Generation Hull, the city’s Local Cultural Education Partnership bringing schools and creative organisations together to ensure children and young people can access high-quality cultural experiences.

Trish is passionate about strengthening Hull’s future by championing creativity, collaboration and opportunity for the next generation, ensuring culture continues to play a central role in the life of the city’s children and young people.

Lisa Wedgner

I am the Programme Director for Generation Hull! I have the most amazing job working with an incredible team and 70 plus generous partners in Hull’s educational creative industries in overseeing and managing the city’s first Arts Council England Place Partnership Project ‘Fight For Our Creative Future’.

I have brought to the role 22 years experience of working with some of the most amazing Children and Young People in Hull in creating a wide range of cultural and creative opportunities in the city. Young people’s voice has always been at the heart of this work - ‘Fight For Our Creative Future’ is no exception - as it is a call from them to develop a creative career pathways project that supports Children and Young People to carve a career into Hull’s creative industry.

Sophie Emmerson

I’m the Creative Careers Partnership Officer for Generation Hull and what a privilege it is. I have always been passionate about the creative industries and the education behind it. I was born and raised in Hull, educated in Hull my whole life and worked in education the past 5 years. Growing up with a passion in the arts, particularly Lighting Design, I found it extremely difficult to navigate. I managed to find a way, through sheer determination and have had some phenomenal experiences in the industry. I believe that through this scheme and through the work of Generation Hull, we can make navigating a career in the creative industries much easier, as we carve out more opportunities for children and young people - the heart of this project.

Sam Rose

Administrator for Generation Hull, I completed a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Administration when I was younger which has given me the skills to do this job, as well as my previous experience. I love this job because we get to see children and young people develop their confidence and skills for the future, in roles they’re actually interested in! You will see or hear from me if you’re involved with Generation Hull and the many different, exciting schemes we have going on during this fun project!
